Within our division „Strategic, Credit & Integrated Risk,“ we are responsible for „Credit Risk Modelling“ – This includes the design of rating processes, the modelling of rating systems, and their implementation. We provide the tools to keep the bank’s credit risk under control. Our goal is to accurately estimate counterparty default risk, loss given default, and exposure at default, while always keeping regulatory requirements in mind. In doing so, we rely on innovative modelling and digitalization approaches. An international, dynamic environment and a detail-oriented working style characterize our area.
What you’ll be doing
The 12-month trainee program in the „Credit Risk Modelling“ department, with a focus on rating methodologies, offers you an attractive entry into your professional career. At the beginning of the program, we will design your individual development plan and jointly define the specific stations and focus areas of your training.
Through active involvement in a wide range of topics, you will gain a broad overview of our responsibilities as the team in charge of local rating models. In addition, a personalized rotation plan will give you exciting insights into other areas of the Chief Risk Office and other divisions. In addition you will have the opportunity to absolve an international rotation and build up an international network. This way, you’ll gain a diverse and holistic understanding of various risk management topics and the workings of a bank. You can look forward to an exciting time where you’ll learn a lot from an experienced team—and no day will ever be boring.

- You hold a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics with a quantitative focus, ideally with specializations in Banking, Insurance, Data Analytics, or Data Science—and excellent academic results.
- You’ve already gained initial practical experience in a financial institution.
- You enjoy working with numerical methods, optimization, and stochastic processes—they excite you rather than intimidate you.
- You’re enthusiastic about working in an international team and confident in presenting your own work results.
- You’re looking for a role that allows you to work independently, with clear goals and a structured approach.
- A strong affinity for numbers, analytical thinking, and quick comprehension are your superpowers.
- Knowledge of SQL, SAS, and LaTeX is a plus.
- You’re fluent in English, written and spoken

In the UniCredit Graduate Program Germany, you can expect an attractive fixed annual base salary from €59,761 gross, based on full-time employment and aligned with your academic degree.
Your remuneration is determined in accordance with the provisions of the applicable collective salary agreement for the private banking sector and is based on the following grading:
- Bachelor’s degree: pay group 6/11th professional year
- Master’s degree: pay group 7/11th professional year
- Doctoral degree (PhD): pay group 8/11th professional year
The target salary consists of two components: the annual base salary (as outlined above), paid in 13 monthly installments, and a variable bonus payment. The variable bonus payment is based on one monthly gross base salary and will be adjusted by the company’s success and your individual performance contribution.
